How We Paint Your Home

Walls, trim, ceilings and doors — your home protected first, every surface prepped, and everything put back before we leave.

Step by step

How does Hisway paint the inside of your home?

Every interior job follows the same 16 steps — they’re written into your proposal. This process is exactly why we can confidently offer a 10-year warranty on our craftsmanship. Before comparing prices, be sure the other company will do these same things.

  1. Protect your home

Before a brush comes out, your furniture is moved and wrapped, your floors and carpet are covered, and anything that would get in the way comes down.

    1. Move & Cover Furniture. Move your furniture as necessary and cover it with clear plastic.
    2. Remove Electrical Covers. Remove your electrical covers so they don't get paint on them.
    3. Move Appliances. Move appliances to paint behind them, without damaging flooring.
    4. Drop Fixtures. Drop fixtures so ceilings can be painted.
    5. Protect Flooring. Protect all flooring with synthetic underlayment which is impervious to tears and leaks.
    6. Protect Carpeting. Protect carpeting with plastic and tarps.
    7. Remove Window Treatments. Remove window treatments. For custom draperies, we ask that you remove and re-hang when our crews are finished.

  2. Repair and prep every surface

Then the walls get fixed, not just painted over: holes and damaged tape repaired, sanded smooth, primed so the patches never show, seams caulked and every surface wiped clean.

    1. Repair Drywall. Repair nail holes or damage to drywall.
    2. Replace Damaged Tape. Replace any damaged drywall tape.
    3. Sand Repairs. Completely sand any repaired areas.
    4. Prime Repairs. Prime all repaired areas to prevent 'flashing' or 'showing'.
    5. Caulk Seams. Caulk all cracked seams to provide a crisp finished look.
    6. Wipe Everything Down. Wipe down your trim, ceilings, and walls to remove dust.
    7. Repair Condensation Damage. Repair condensation damage on windows by scraping off the loose paint, sanding, and priming for the best adhesion possible.
  3. Two full coats

Then the color goes on — two full coats, standard on every job, for true color and even coverage that holds up.

  4. Clean up and put it back

When we finish, the trash leaves with us, your furniture goes back where it was, and the floors are vacuumed or mopped.

    1. Haul Trash & Reset Furniture. Haul all trash away and return furniture to its original location.
    2. Vacuum & Mop. Vacuum or mop work areas when finished.

What warranty comes with a Hisway paint job?

Every interior job is backed by a 10-year workmanship warranty, plus lifetime coverage on material defects. Most contractors offer a “tail light warranty” — once you see their tail lights, any issue with the materials or the work is no longer covered. We stand behind our work, every time.

Good questions

Common interior painting questions

How long does a room take?

Most single rooms are a one-day job with prep, two coats and cleanup. Bigger spaces or whole-home projects take longer — we give you a real timeline at your estimate, not a guess.

Do I need to move furniture?

No. We move what needs moving and cover everything that stays. Protecting your floors and furniture is part of the job, not an extra.

Do you help pick colors?

Yes. Every estimate comes with a free color consult, so you can get the shade right before a drop of paint goes on.

What paint do you use?

Quality interior paint matched to the room — washable finishes for high-traffic areas, flat where it belongs. Unless you pick your own, we default to Sherwin-Williams: SW Duration Interior (Matte) on walls, SW Pro-Classic (Satin) on trim, and SW ProMar 400 (Flat) on ceilings. We’ll walk you through the options at your free color consult.

Who does the painting?

Trained, experienced painters we screen ourselves, held to the same prep and protection standard on every job.

Clear terms, no surprises

How do you pay for interior painting?

There’s no deposit — final payment is due when the job is done. Pay by ACH bank transfer with no fee, or by card with a 3% processing fee. We don’t take checks, and there’s no financing anywhere.
